ANGELA EVANS

Flixton Juniors have 3 Club Welfare Officers (CWO’s)  in our welfare team. Our CWOs are fully trained to an accredited FA standard, and hold full enhanced DBS, Child Safeguarding and advanced Child Welfare qualifications. Our senior welfare officer also holds a qualification in adult welfare and safeguarding and coaching disability football.

You may have seen our CWO’s at training and matches, some players do recognise us for our shin pads checks and are keen to show us they are fully equipped to play football safely. We do a lot more than shin pads checks though, from ensuring our Club Code of Conduct is maintained by our players, managers, coaches and spectators,  and that training and matches are conducted safely for all involved, to  liaising with teams and other clubs should any welfare or safeguarding concerns arise.

We are the team you go to if you have any safeguarding concerns. Be that a footballing concern; is a child being treated differently due to gender, race or ability? Are you concerned about behaviour in your team, or worried about possible poor coaching practice?

We’re also here for any welfare concerns regarding players or their families outside of football. Do remember though if you believe a member of our community is in immediate danger please first call 999 before informing the welfare team.

Finally, we encourage all parents and spectators to complete the FA’s free Safeguarding Awareness for Parents and Carers course, because we believe safeguarding and welfare should be everyone's concern.

WELFARE AT THE CLUB

Manchester FA are committed to safeguarding visits and have been visiting leagues since the beginning of the season. The purpose of the visits is to check compliance of coaches and volunteers on match days to ensure the correct people are pitch side.

We need to ensure that coaches are listed correctly on Whole game in order to carry out checks. If an individual is not listed or has no DBS etc this will be followed up with the Club and an action plan for the team will be put in place.

Safeguarding visits give us the opportunity to offer support to coaches, how to access courses etc.

Over this season we commit to visit all Clubs. We are looking to welfare officers to support this by making sure DBS are completed and ensuring coaches are listed correctly.

REPORTING A CONCERN

Manchester FA have a new recording tool for reporting concerns. This is a simple form to complete for anyone wanting to report. If you please can use the form yourself and share to parents, coaches, and other club volunteers.

Please click here to open the form

Please Fill Out the form to report a concern and will not replace Manchester FA complaints procedure.
